EMESRTgate

EMESRTgate provides access to the OEM engagement materials development by the Earth Moving Equipment Safety Round Table (EMESRT). The Design Philosophies and OMAT are resources used by Surface, Underground Coal & Soft Rock, Underground Hard Rock and Exploration Drilling EMESRT member companies to mitigate the risks associated with mining and exploration equipment.
EMESRT Design Philosophies
Fifteen priority safety topics for Surface earth moving equipment have been identified by the EMESRT Surface Technical Group and developed into Design Philosophies (DPs). Statements of industry risks with accompanying images aim to communicate the potential hazards of operating and maintaining the equipment. Industry examples to mitigate risks are also presented. Via the DPs, EMESRTgate gives you access to design-related information on industry risks and mitigation examples.
Go to the Design Philosophies and click on any of the risks or mitigation examples to view descriptive images and access applicable information resources.
OMAT
The Operability and Maintainability Analysis Technique is a task-oriented risk assessment developed to help designers identify and understand the human factors issues associated with operating and maintaining equipment. Ideally, OMAT should be implemented at the concept stage of equipment design by original equipment manufacturers, though it can also be used on site to review newly purchased or pre-existing equipment.
